RESEARCH AREA
• Studies on dimerization, oligomerization and fibrilization of amyloidogenic peptides and proteins (e.g. human cystatin C, hCC; serum amyloid A, SAA; A-beta peptides)
• Structural studies (X-ray, NMR, CD, IR, MD) of peptides and proteins in their biological activity aspect
• Application of mass spectrometry (MS) to the analysis of peptide and protein intermolecular interactions (identification of epitopes, paratopes and other binding sites)
• Obtaining of proteins using chemical ligation techniques, genetic engineering and molecular biology methods
• Design, synthesis and biological and conformational studies of potentially antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal compounds based on e.g. cystatin C structure
• Design, synthesis and biological studies of peptides and peptidomimetics with putative therapeutic activity (osteoporosis inhibitors, inhibitors/activators of proteasome)
